This Morning's very own Dermot O'Leary is branching out into the world of film, as he's set to appear in Netflix's upcoming holiday movie. Alison Hammond broke the news on Friday's show, leaving viewers buzzing with anticipation.

The programme teased audiences with a faux trailer, revealing that the festive flick is from Richard Curtis, the creative genius behind hits like Love Actually and Four Weddings and a Funeral.

Featuring tunes from superstar Ed Sheeran, the cast boasts big names such as Succession's Brian Cox, Jodie Whittaker, and Bill Nighy. An excited Alison exclaimed: "Dermot O'Leary, genuinely is in a Hollywood movie, a blockbuster for Christmas!"

Alison informed the audience that the film, titled That Christmas, will be hitting screens on December 4, prompting her to coax Dermot into standing up for a well-deserved bow, reports the Mirror.

Amidst a rousing cheer and applause from the crew, Dermot shared insights about his role in the animated feature, saying: "I play, the part of Mr Chop, it's some of my finest work."

Viewers were treated to a glimpse of Dermot's character in action, hearing him shout at another character in the sneak peek.

A grateful Dermot told the studio: "Thanks everyone! it means an awful lot to me, thanks."

Alison couldn't hide her delight, responding: "Unbelievable. I'm so so happy. Dermot has bagged himself a role in the Netflix big Christmas animation this year, That Christmas. Don't miss it! I'm in the presence of greatness."

But Dermot isn't the only one from This Morning who's exploring new opportunities beyond the ITV programme.

In a thrilling revelation for her fans, Josie Gibson announced in September that she would be taking a temporary step back from her regular spot to embark on an exciting solo project with Channel 5.

Her upcoming venture dives into the opulent world of luxury getaways in a three-part documentary series dubbed The First Class Travel Show, scheduled to premiere next year.

Speaking to the Express, she expressed her gratitude, saying: "I'm very grateful for This Morning and everything they've helped me with because they grew me as a presenter.

"I should be around at Christmas on the [This Morning] sofa, so then I will get back on the road and try to make it all work as much as I can."

Usually when it's half-term, regular hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley take a step back from the programme as fans often see Josie and Craig Doyle take the reigns.

Although with Josie not expected back until the festive season, viewers will have to wait to see who will be taking over as another half-term looms.

In recent months, This Morning has seen a rotation of presenters, such as Alison Hammond, Rylan Clark, Sian Welby, and Rochelle Humes.

This Morning continues weekdays on ITV from 10am.
