Zoe Ball's return to BBC Radio 2 has been officially confirmed by bosses after taking six weeks off following the sad death of her mother.

BBC Radio schedules confirm Zoe will be back on Monday morning from 6.30am with her Maximum Music Monday show.

It will mark the first time the 53-year-old has been on air since August 8.

Scott Mills had been standing in for Zoe, but her team are said to be excited to have her back on the airwaves.

A source told The Sunday Mirror: "Zoe's been through a lot lately but she's battled through and is keen to get back to work. Scott's done a great job but the team are looking forward to welcoming Zoe back."

Zoe's mum Julia died in April, 12 weeks after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

It was reported that BBC bosses had told Zoe to take "as much time as she needs" to grieve and they were doing "everything they can" to help her return to work when she is ready.

Earlier this week, Zoe's son Woody - whom she shares with ex-husband Norman Cook - shared how he had been her rock during the difficult time.

The 23-year-old told MailOnline: "My mum and I like to keep our private lives to ourselves but I will say I have stepped up and spent a lot more time with her recently as she has always been there when I've had tough times. I'm glad to see her smiling."

Back in August, when taking over Zoe's hosting duties, Scott addressed Zoe's absence, stating: "If you set your alarm every morning to go off at 6:30am and normally Zoe comes on, please do not freak out.

"You have not overslept. If you've just put us on this morning, it's Scott Mills in for Zoe for the next few weeks. I'm sending you all my love Zo', as are the team."

Ahead of her return to BBC Radio 2, it was reported over the weekend that Zoe has sold her £2 million countryside home.

According to MailOnline, she purchased the property in August 2020 for £2,025,000 and has moved to a townhouse between Brighton and Hove.

Zoe is now closer to her ex-husband Fatboy Slim, from whom she separated in 2016 before their divorce in 2020.
