Tokyo's PARCO MUSEUM will soon unveil a new group exhibition centered around Godzilla. As the fourth installment in the institution's Godzilla-themed programming, the forthcoming show will be curated by NANZUKA and comprise of 15 international artists, including Roby Dwi Antono, Hiroki Tsukuda, Ryuichi Ohira, James Jarvis and Tadanobu Asano, who've each created unique artworks tailored specifically for the event.

Highlights include Haroshi's totemic bust of the big dinosaur monster, crafted in his signature blend of recycled skate decks and visually inspired by the Godzilla film of the 1950s. Elsewhere, British artist and filmmaker was excited to create a unique noise piece using the sounds of Godzilla movies. "I produced this with the help of my friend David Scott Stone, who has produced sounds for Merzbow, Masonna, Melvins, and others," Oliver explained in a statement.

As for Tetsuya Nakamura, who created the key visuals for the exhibition, he wanted to pay tribute to the various iterations of the giant monster created before him. After a process of trial-and-error, he landed on a version that "focused on the beauty of the form of the ferocious yet cool 1964 Godzilla as my motif, and amplified my own image of Godzilla."

Complementing the show is a special commemorative figure created by Nakamura that will be available to purchase for ¥5,500 JPY / $36 USD at the museum. GODZILLA THE ART will open on Friday, November 29 and run through Monday, December 16, 2024.
