British TV host is feeling “unbelievably grateful” after undergoing brain surgery for a “very rare” tumor.
The former Big Brother U.K. host, 57, shared an emotional video via Instagram on Monday, November 25, thanking fans for their outpouring of support amid her recovery. McCall first shared on November 15 that she was going to have surgery after doctors discovered a brain tumor during a recent scan.
“It’s really nice to be back home. I’m on the other side,” McCall said in Monday’s video after returning home from the hospital. “My short-term memory’s a bit remiss but that is something I can work on so I’m really happy about that. I’m writing down everything that I’m doing to keep myself feeling safe.”
The mother-of-three said she’s being “brilliantly looked after” by her boyfriend, hairdresser , and her stepmother, .
“I’d quickly like to say, big up the stepmoms. I don’t say thank you to Gaby enough. She’s been an amazing rock my whole life,” she shared.
McCall continued, “I was talking yesterday to somebody and I got a massive dose of vitamin G. When something like this happens, I just feel so grateful. I’ve always been grateful … I’ve been really lucky in my life. But I feel unbelievably grateful right now.”
“I’m on the mend, I’m resting, I’m sleeping loads, and I feel really good,” the television star concluded her video.
McCall shared news of her surgery earlier this month, revealing that doctors discovered a benign tumor in her brain.
“I slightly put my head in the sand for a while, and then I saw quite a few neurosurgeons, I got lots of opinions. I realized that I have to get it taken out,” she said in a pre-recorded video before her surgery.
“I’m not worrying too much and I am in a good space, and I have all the faith in the world in my surgeon and his team, and I’m handing the reins over to him. He knows what he’s doing, and I’m going to do the getting better bit after,” she added.
Later the same day, McCall’s boyfriend shared an update via her Instagram. “Hey all. Davina is out of surgery and according to the surgeon it was textbook! She’s currently recovering in ICU as a precaution, as you can imagine she’s utterly exhausted,” Douglas wrote.
In another update on November 18, Douglas said the Long Lost Family host had made “mega progress these last 24 hours” and that it was a “relief to see some light breaking through.”
