Apple is looking to new innovative ventures. Following Meta's footsteps, Apple is reportedly looking to develop its own smart glasses. According to Bloomberg, the iPhone maker is moving into AI eyewear after its Apple Vison Pro headset.
Apple recently conducted its own internal study under the code name Atlas. During the study, they gathered intel on insights of existing products from its staff which led to their choice to moving into the eyewear space. In an apparent leaked email from Apple's California headquarters, Bloomberg reports, "Testing and developing products that all can come to love is very important to what we do at Apple. This is why we are looking for participants to join us in an upcoming user study with current market smart glasses." Apple is aware that they will face competition from Meta and Snap Inc.
Vision Pro was Apple's initial set of smart lenses but the mixed reality VR device was proven to be too bulky and awkward for wearers -- not to mention the whopping $3,499 USD pricing. The company recently reported that it will slow down the production of the Vision Pro due to low demand. However, Apple has plans to rework the pricing to make it more affordable for its consumer base. It is uncertain when Apple will release their version of the smart glasses but it looks like the tech company is looking for steps to create a new wearable eye piece in the coming future.
