The 24 Heures du Montauk: Auto

The fourth edition of the 24 Heures du Montauk recently rolled through the scenic roads of the Hamptons, captivating car enthusiasts with a blend of rare automobiles, stunning coastal views and a relaxed, intimate atmosphere. Held the day before the prestigious Bridge event, this exclusive, invite-only rally has quickly become a favorite among automotive enthusiasts looking for more than just a car show.

Co-founded by Rory Tait of Rally and Hootan "Hootie" Rashidifard, from Valve & Piston, the event saw 150 attendees kick things off at artist Daniel Arsham’s Bridgehampton studio. From the artist's garage, 150 guests, in 65 carefully curated vehicles, embarked on a 40-mile drive through the Hamptons, concluding at Dive Bar Pizza in Montauk.

Far from a traditional rally, the 24 Heures du Montauk emphasizes the experience of driving and connecting with fellow car lovers. "It’s about the people and stories as much as it is about the cars," shared Tait. The event's laid-back vibe and focus on shared passion have made it a highlight for those fortunate enough to attend.

Even with the above said, the cars did make a considerable contribution to the excitement of the event — with an impressive lineup of vehicles ranging from vintage classics to cutting-edge supercars. Notably, Italian race car driver Luca Betti piloted his Kimera Automobili Evo37, while Ferrari F50 and F40 models shared the road with modern marvels like two Ferrari 812 Competiziones. Arsham showcased his artistic flair, revealing his RUF RCT Carbon Evo and a striking Vanilla Yellow Porsche 993 Carrera S. Other standout cars included an Aston Martin DBR2, Mercedes 300SL Gullwing, Porsche 959, and a Bugatti Chiron.

More than just a display of rare cars, the rally offered a unique chance for owners to experience their vehicles as they were meant to be driven. "We wanted to create an event that’s not just about the cars, but about the experiences — the sounds, the smells, the motion," said Rashidifard.

Arsham also commented on the event, stating "I was happy to host the start of the rally from my garage. It’s an event I look forward to every year, getting together with friends in the community and seeing some incredible cars." Sharing the same sentiment, Anthony Serra, the founder of 1600Veloce, stated "The 24h is one of my highlight events to attend. It’s the perfect blend of cars and people, with participants coming from the tri-state area and beyond."

While 24 Heures du Montauk is technically one of the newest rally events on the scene, it shows no sign of slowing down and continues to solidify its name as a serious event. Evidence of this comes in the form of increased sponsorship from serious players like Graniteshares, Sotheby's Motorsport, Singer Vehicle Design and more. With this added support, we expect to see the event become more and more popular in the automotive lifestyle category as the years go by.
