ITV's Good Morning Britain was interrupted this morning (January 10) as Kate Garraway and Paul Brand delivered some tragic news. They shared that five more people had lost their lives over night in the Los Angeles fires - bringing the death toll to 10.

Paul explained that as the wild fires continued to rage throughout California "entire neighbourhoods had been wiped out". Pictures flashed on screen of the "apocolyptic scenes".

Kate shared that one man has been arrested for arson after the latest fire broke out. She then passed the report on to Noel Phillips, who was live in the area.

The presenter asked him about the death toll as she said that officials had said it will "tragically significantly increase". Noel replied explaining that there are a large number of people who have been reported missing.

He added: "So the expectation is that more bodies will be recovered in burnt out homes." With emotion in his voice, the reporter shared that the fires had left an "unimaginable trail of destruction" and it is "continuing to wreak havoc".

Noel continued: "Looting is a huge issue. That's what the LA's County Sherriff and his officers are grappling with as well as trying to find the missing."

He later added that more than 20 people have already been arrested for looting.

The ITV show then cut to a chat with a woman who had lost her 82-year-old father and her home in the blaze. Another woman, who lived across the street, broke down in tears as she said: "It's not easy. It's not."

Noel then asked the Sherriff if he was expecting to find any more bodies. The officer replied: "I am praying that we don't but based on the devastation that we are witnessing, I am finding it very hard to believe that we won't."

The LA County Fire Chief added that they were "prepared for one fire but not for three or four fires that had started".

It is now the fourth day of fires, and there are still currently five wild fires still burning - two of them are still zero percent contained.
