Man Utd boss Ruben Amorim makes decision on selling Casemiro this month

Manchester United are reportedly prepared to offload Casemiro this month in an effort to reduce the club's wage bill.

The Brazilian international, who is currently the highest earner at Old Trafford with a weekly salary of £400,000, does not feature in the long-term plans of new boss Ruben Amorim.

With several Saudi clubs expressing interest in the player, United would not obstruct a potential deal say the Daily Star. Casemiro himself is said to be open to a move to Saudi, where he could potentially double his earnings.

Despite having 18 months left on his current contract - which would cost United nearly £30m if he stayed - it is understood that the club may consider selling him for a lower price to free up funds for Amorim to bring in new players.

United's spending power is currently limited due to strict FFP rules, but Casemiro's departure would provide some financial breathing space in this month's transfer window.

Casemiro was celebrated as a marquee signing when he moved from Real Madrid to United in a £70m deal in 2022. He arrived at Old Trafford as one of the most decorated stars in global football, boasting 18 major trophies with Real, including five Champions League titles.

However, after a stellar debut season, his performance and physical condition have taken a hit over the past year.

Since Amorim took over, he has found it challenging to secure a consistent starting position, and his lack of speed was glaringly evident in the recent home loss to Newcastle.
