Good Morning Britain's Kate Garraway faced 'huge struggle' after move from ITV show

GMB: Kate discusses her Masked Singer appearance

Kate Garraway, the familiar face from  Good Morning Britain, opened up about her challenging experience on another hit ITV show. On Monday's episode of GMB, viewers were surprised to discover that Kate was the celebrity behind Spag Bol on The Masked Singer, which was revealed the previous Sunday night.

Discussing her time on the popular singing competition, Kate revealed that she had kept her participation a secret even from her family. She shared: "Very exciting/traumatising for the family! I got my kids to watch. They were very confused about it saying, 'Why are you forcing us to watch in real time?'".

She continued, expressing her own surprise at the reveal schedule: "But, I didn't know it wasn't going to be revealed on Saturday, that's how much in the dark you are. I forced them to watch in real time, and then they were like, 'Ok, so we're watching tomorrow then, are we, Mum?'".

Kate also divulged the extreme measures taken to ensure the identities of the celebrities remain a mystery. She explained: "One of the challenges is, they pick you up, they then pull into a field before you get to the location.

"You have to cover all your skin and hair and they put a black visor on you, black jogging bottoms, boots and a T-Shirt that says 'do not talk to me'. You're not allowed to speak at all!"

Her co-host Susanna Reid pointed out that Kate's distinctive voice would give her away instantly, to which Kate agreed, adding: "None of the staff and crew can speak to you, so I had to be silent which was a huge struggle to be honest. So when I began to sing I was just relieved to be able to make a noise."

TV presenter Kate Garraway faced a challenge to remain tight-lipped, but she couldn't resist showering The Masked Singer with accolades for the delightful experience. During her time on The Masked Singer, she thrilled the audience with her rendition of Geri Halliwell's Look at Me, reports the Mirror.

The show's panel, consisting of Maya Jama, Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall, and Mo Gilligan, along with guest Vicky McClure, were stumped when it came to identifying the star behind the mask.

Good Morning Britain's Kate Garraway left them utterly astonished when host Joel Dommett unveiled her identity. Reminiscing about the experience, Kate exclaimed: "I can't sing and I kept telling them (the production team) that and they said it doesn't matter."

She added joyfully: "Just to have an incredible chance to come out dressed as spaghetti and waddle around trying to sing. It's been so much fun and everybody's been great."

The evening held more surprises; Dame Prue Leith, Bake Off judge and celebrity cook, was also revealed from the guise of Pegasus.

Post-reveal, Dame Prue shared her exhilaration: "I have say this is the most amazing experience. I've never sung a note. I'm tone deaf. I have been having lessons and I've got slowly able to at least make a noise."

Her candid admission highlighted the unique and entertaining premise of ITV's hit series.

Good Morning Britain continues weekdays on ITV from 6am.
