BEAMS Launches km5's Clear Instant Disk CP1 CD Player

BEAMS and Japanese audio brand km5 have teamed up for the launch of a clear version of the Instant Disk CP1 CD player.

Following up on the audio specialists' black and white models, the clear edition resembles the 1990s' transparent tech trends in its strong polycarbonate makeup. Through the shell users can see the inner hardware of the device, providing a unique futuristic sensibility to the analog device.

km5's Instant Disk CP1 is equipped with Bluetooth 5.1.and 7-8 hours of rechargeable power. The player can also be connected to an existing sound system through the 3.5mm Stereo Earphone Jack. With the insertion of a lyric sheet using the wall hanging bracket or stand sold separately, the device becomes a medium for interior decoration.

Clear gadgets have seen a revival in recent years as part of the general Y2k trend that has taken over fashion and eventually spilled into tech. The design is reminiscent of clear tech previously offered by Japanese gaming companies like Sony, Nintendo and Tamagotchi. CD sales are also picking up again following the uptick in vinyl sales that began in the late 2010s.

The clear Instant Disk CP1 player is available for order now at BEAMS, and is estimated to deliver by mid-January 2025.
