'Gripping' true crime series becomes one of Netflix's most-watched shows
A 'terrifying yet brilliant' true crime series has just made a surprise entry into Netflix's top ten charts after being added to its library.
British-made show, The Walk-In, has quickly become one of the most viewed programmes on the streaming giant, mere days after its addition to the platform.
Originally broadcast on ITV in 2022, it features Stephen Graham in the main role.
The plot is rooted in real events and unfolds against the backdrop of the impending Brexit vote, causing turmoil across the UK political scene.
Activist Matthew Collins (played by Graham) and his advocacy group Hope Not Hate are on edge, fearing a violent, racist campaign from far-right extremist group National Action. With limited intelligence on the far right available to the police, Matthew becomes the inside man within the organisation.

The series dramatises the events that saw Collins infiltrate a neo-Nazi group and thwart a plan to assassinate an MP. Alongside the series, ITV aired a documentary titled Nazi Hunters: The Real Walk-In, reports the Daily Record.
The actual Matthew Collins was compelled to leave Britain and go into hiding in the 1990s when he became a mole within the BNP, but now resides back in the UK fighting against British-based fascists. He joined the NF while growing up in a tough, deprived part of south London with high unemployment, and was drawn in by their recruitment drive targeting disillusioned young men.
Following its release on Netflix, The Walk-In has gained a significant following, with many viewers drawn to Matthew's story. Despite the platform's recent influx of new content, including highly anticipated series and Christmas films, The Walk-In has unexpectedly entered the top ten charts.
Stephen Graham's performance has received plenty of praise (Image: ITV)At the time of writing, it holds the fifth spot among the most-watched shows on Netflix, trailing behind new original thrillers Black Doves and The Madness, as well as another ITV true crime drama, The Pembrokeshire Murders, which sits at number two.
Viewers have taken to social media to share their thoughts on the series, with one commenting: "Fantastic and frightening series, all the more scary because it's true and we all know some of the characters. Stephen Graham could not do a bad performance if he tried but excellent in this."
"Weary everyman constantly paying and working off the debt of his younger self. Andrew Ellis , brilliant as the boy with no future looking for a cause and friends. A terrifying backdrop of far right Britain capable of extreme violence. A must watch."

Another viewer added: "I know that I have come quite late to the party with watching this but I'm so glad I got round to it. Acting on point and realistic and Stephen Graham as always was fantastic."
Some viewers have pointed out that the series might be a challenging or even 'upsetting' watch for some due to its content. Yet, numerous people have stressed the significance of the show, with one individual commenting: "Excellent drama and while upsetting and thought provoking, it highlights the importance of each of us being vigilant of personal bias towards all members of our society."
