Rare 2011 RUF 3800 S Surfaces for Sale

A rare 2011 RUF 3800 S has surfaced for sale via the Collins auction house — as part of its soft launch in Bangkok Thailand — offering enthusiasts a chance to own one of the more overlooked vehicles crafted by RUF. While the custom automaker is primarily known for transforming 911 models, the 3800 S provides a unique and refreshing change of pace, based on the Porsche 987 Cayman.

This RUF-built car features a 3.8L direct-injection flat-six engine sourced from the 911 Carrera S, delivering a highly capable 420 hp, a 100 hp increase over the standard Cayman S. The engine is paired with an uprated PDK transmission, ensuring precise shifts and optimal performance for the rear-wheel-drive coupe.

Finished in a striking Outlaw Green exterior complemented by a bespoke black interior with matching green accents, this 3800 S stands out both visually and mechanically. The cabin features custom touches, including a RUF steering wheel, unique upholstery and color-matched seat backs, underscoring the meticulous craftsmanship the brand is known for.

Beyond its power, the car has been engineered for complete balance, featuring aerodynamic enhancements, bespoke suspension tuning and upgraded brakes. These refinements ensure that the enhanced power output is matched by equally impressive handling and stopping capabilities.

This RHD example is in exceptional cosmetic and mechanical condition and is ready to take on the roads. As a complete RUF vehicle with its own VIN, the 3800 S carries a prestige unmatched by typical tuner cars. At the time of writing, the asking price for the vehicle has not been shared publicly, however, it is available upon request. Notably, the 3800 S has surfaced as part of Collins' soft launch in its classifieds category, with other rare vehicles to be offered at its debut sale event during the Amata Spring Classic d’Elegance 2024 in Thailand.
