I'm A Celebrity fans 'work out' why vote off is cancelled after Ant and Dec's announcement

I'm A Celeb: Ant and Dec speak about The Jungle Arms

Fans of I'm A Celebrity have been left on the edge of their seats, predicting a major twist after presenters Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly made an ominous reveal.

The duo announced there would be "a big surprise" in store for the camp, with full details to be unwrapped during Wednesday's episode although Joel Dommett did let some details slip on Unpacked later. It was also disclosed that there wouldn't be an elimination on Wednesday night; this followed Melvin Odoom's departure from the show on Tuesday, with the public vote not being reopened.

Ant and Dec confirmed that voting remained closed, meaning viewers couldn't choose the next person to leave. They left everyone on tenterhooks by merely hinting at a surprise without giving anything away, putting viewers into a state of shock.

Audience members took to various platforms, voicing their apprehension about what might lie ahead, with some feeling certain they'd figured out the mystery.

Two main fan theories emerged: one group speculated that a campmate might make a dramatic return to the jungle shortly after their exit, and another guessed that the public vote was shut because the campmates would be tasked with deciding who leaves next.

Dec told audiences: "We are not reopening the vote for tomorrow because we've got a massive surprise for them. More will be revealed in tomorrow's show."

On X, speculation was rife among viewers with one fan suggesting: "No vote tomorrow because Houdini is returning," hinting at a comeback for the previously eliminated Dean McCullough. Another viewer anticipated: "The twist is definitely either no one's out (which I doubt) or camp vote but camp vote kinda seems obvious."

Concurring, a third viewer posited: "What's this surprise twist? The campers can vote against each other over the normal public vote."

A fourth added their two cents: "The big surprise will probably be a free for all head to head and the bottom either go or go up for a quick vote. That's my prediction anyway."

Amidst the theories, some fans were distinctly unsettled, with remarks such as: "No public vote.... what does this mean and should I be scared? " and "No vote? I don't like the sound of this."

However, Joel cleared up the mystery, revealing that the contestants would be vying for tokens. He divulged that winning these coveted tokens would grant immunity from the next two eliminations and secure a spot in the Celebrity Cyclone challenge.

This revelation followed a moment of genuine astonishment amongst the campmates during the latest iteration of the ITV jungle saga. The previous nights eviction, showcased on Tuesdays recap, saw Ant and Dec deliver the sombre update that Tulisa Contostavlos was the latest celebrity asked to take a bow, voted off by public decision.

Joining the ranks of the departed after Jane Moore and Dean, the next to exit was Melvin, who waved goodbye on Tuesday.
