ITV's Lorraine interrupted as Strictly star sends surprise message to host

Lorraine Kelly was utterly gobsmacked on her Thursday morning show. While chatting with Lucie Cave for the latest gossip, her ITV colleagues had a delightful surprise up their sleeves.

Lucie let slip that it would be the last time viewers would catch Lorraine before her birthday bash at the weekend. She teased: "So, we have a couple of people here just to wish you Happy Birthday!"

Doctor Hilary Jones made an entrance into the studio, and Dr Amir Khan joined in via video call, hinting that there were more who wanted to send their best wishes, including Strictly's Amy Dowden.

The BBC ballroom star appeared on screen, commenting: "Happy Birthday Lorraine! You truly deserve all the love in the world, and I'm sending you all my Welsh love, mwah!"

Overwhelmed by the heartfelt messages, Lorraine watched as other celebrities, including Boy George, sent their well wishes After the tributes, she commented:"Oh, that was so lovely! That was great."

Sharing her birthday plans, the ITV icon revealed a family day out. She shared: "On Saturday, to celebrate being 65, me and Billie are going out, my wee granddaughter.

"We're going out! Rosie (her daughter) is coming as well, and her Steve is coming and my Steve. But essentially, it's me and Billie celebrating."

Dr Amir began by wishing Lorraine a happy birthday, before sharing his thoughts on her youthful appearance, saying: "I think your secret to looking so lush is that you don't take yourself too seriously. You always have a laugh with things."

Lorraine concurred, admitting that she believes people often take themselves too seriously, reports the Mirror.

The Scottish TV personality was then presented with a heartfelt gift from her co-stars - a plant called a Grandma Rose. Dr Hilary explained the thoughtful present, while Dr Amir joked that it didn't look particularly impressive at the moment, but assured Lorraine that with proper care, it would bloom into a beautiful yellow flower.

Lorraine was touched by the gift, highlighting the special connection to her daughter Rosie. She promised to plant it in her garden, where she could admire it in bloom while feeding the birds.

The birthday surprises didn't end there, as Strictly stars Pete Wicks and Jowita Przysta appeared on the show with a stunning rainbow cake.

Lorraine was overwhelmed with emotion, comententing: "You angel! Thank you, a rainbow cake that's very appropriate. Thank you very much for that, it's beautiful."

Pete joked she was 21 again as Lorraine informed him she'd be turning 65. He replied: "You look fabulous!"

During their chat, the duo spoke about Pete's journey on the BBC dance show as he confessed to still not knowing much.

He commented: "I'm just less hesitant!" As Lorraine applauded him for improving, she highlighted how hard he works.

Lorraine continues weekdays on ITV from 9am.
