An exciting update on the next series of ITV series Grantchester has been shared by actor Rishi Nair, who made his debut in the ninth instalment of the hit show.

The actor will reprise his role as Reverend Alphy Kotteram in the tenth series of Grantchester, which is due to premiere in 2025.

Rishi, 33, has shared some news about the upcoming series with fans, having revealed that filming has finally wrapped.

He posted a black and white photograph taken on the Grantchester set to Instagram, and excitedly announced: "4 and a half months of filming... and we've officially wrapped on Grantchester Season 10." (sic)

Fans of the ITV show were thrilled by the news and took to the comments to react. One person said: "Awesome! Looking forward to the next instalment." While a second added: "Waiting with great anticipation!"

Rishi will return in the new series alongside fan favourite Robson Green, who portrays Geordie Keating. Also confirmed to be returning are Al Weaver, Tessa Peake-Jones, Kacey Ainsworth, Oliver Dimsdale, Nick Brimble, Bradley Hall and Melissa Johns.

Further details surrounding the tenth series have been kept under wraps, but Rishi and Robson have both shared some subtle teaser about what's in store.

Speaking with PBS, Rishi revealed: "In terms of Alphy, we've seen him as a very happy-go-lucky, glass-half-full kind of guy, very confident and up for every challenge. But I think in Season 10, we'll start to unravel some of the secrets that he's been hiding and we get to know Alphy maybe for the man who he really is, rather than the man that he presents to the world."

Elsewhere, Robson said of the new series: "The relationship with Alphy and Geordie will progress into something extraordinarily beautiful and hopefully, life-changing in terms of cultural acceptance of the melting pot that is the beauty of this country.

"The acceptance of—irrespective of what land you're from or where you're from—who you are. It's just about your character, not the colour of your skin."

Filming on the new series of Grantchester commened in July, with the stars sharing behind the scenes snaps throughout the journey on social media.
