Ressence Collaborates with BUAISOU for the Alluring TYPE 8 INDIGO

Ressence has unveiled a striking new time-teller inspired by the timeless art of Japanese indigo dyeing: the TYPE 8 INDIGO. This alluring timepiece is a celebratory release for Ressence’s long-time partner in Tokyo, Shellman’s recent retail expansion. At the same time, it’s also the independent watch brand’s contribution to The Indigo Project that Shellman leads.

Taking the theme seriously, the TYPE 8 INDIGO opted for a much more interesting and artisanal approach in incorporating indigo into the watch’s design. Ressence collaborated with specialists at BUAISOU to showcase the delicate beauty of natural indigo through the application of a hand-dyed silk thread onto the dial. "Applying thread to a dial is an uncommon practice in watchmaking, and for Ressence, this marks the first time we have incorporated an Arts & Métiers craft into one of our watches,” says Ressence’s founder, Benoît Mintiens.

The resulting dial emanates a unique allure formed by an organic yet structured pattern reminiscent of intricate embroidery. Due to the natural dyeing process, the thread’s color isn’t entirely uniform, thus creating a gradient-like effect.

Housed in grade 5 titanium with a case diameter of 42.9mm, this special iteration arrives in the usual specifications of the TYPE 8. Geared with 36 hours of power reserve, the watch runs on a patented Ressence Orbital Convex System 8 module with a customized automatic base caliber.

Complete with a warm gray Saffiano calf leather strap, Ressence’s TYPE 8 INDIGO is available to view at Shellman’s Isetan Shinjuku Watch Shop in Toyko.
