The JW Anderson x Guinness Capsule Has Arrived

After teasing the collaboration with the iconic British beer brand in his SS25 runway presentation, JW Anderson has officially released its Guinness capsule. The line creatively reimagines the iconic Guinness wordmark and interpolates vintage advertising graphics from the beer brand in a concise range of long-sleeve sweaters and paneled t-shirts.

Standing out in the offering is a solid black sweatshirt that features text embroidered with varied pearl embellishments to reference the texture of the signature foam that rises to the top of a Guinness pint. Below the pearl-covered block letters, a black and white screenprint of a vintage Guinness illustration bears a jolly smile in the foam.

Elsewhere, the classic Guinness wordmark is knitted into an intarsia sweater, between bold white appliques depicting the Irish harp insignia and JW Anderson's signature below. The vintage feel is further amplified in a duo of raglan-style t-shirts with black panels and retro Guinness ad illustrations. The smiling pint is reprised with an additional text graphic in the first tee, while the other tee features a simplified retro poster print with an orange backdrop.

On the collaboration, Jonathan Anderson said "I’ve always been obsessed by Guinness and their advertising. I think they are still today one of the greatest advertisers and I liked the idea of using their amazing graphics. There is something about the way in which marketing was used - especially at the turn of the century and how Guinness really pioneered (and still do) how we look and approach advertising. I’ve always wanted to be able to show some of it, because in fashion we think we are so radical but actually they were way before all of that" in a statement provided by the brand.

The JW Anderson x Guinness line is available now at the JW Anderson web store.
