UNDERCOVER Is Celebrating Hello Kitty's 50th Anniversary With New Sanrio Collab

UNDERCOVER has collaborated with Sanrio on multiple occasions over the last several decades — be that on cute keychain collections or character-covered T-shirt lines — but this latest team-up is likely their most special to date. Celebrating the 50th anniversary of Hello Kitty, Patty & Jimmy and My Melody, the Jun Takahashi-led fashion label and the Japanese entertainment company have reunited on an expansive lineup of honorary ready-to-wear and accessories packed with Sanrio's famous faces.

The collection includes sweatshirts, T-shirts, tote bags, caps and pouches — all of which are decorated with beaded and sequined iterations of each character's original design from the time of Sanrio's launch, alongside UNDERCOVER's signature "U" and bear motif. Notably, the sweatshirts arrive in three styles: a hoodie, an oversized crewneck and a pullover version with a short front hem and long back hem. Coming in a muted color palette, the clothing items let the duo's embroidered takes on Sanrio's archetypal personas claim the spotlight, marking their monumental 50th year in pop culture.

The UNDERCOVER x Sanrio 50th-anniversary collection will become available to shop at Shinjuku Isetan Main Building and Nagoya Mitsukoshi on Wednesday, November 20, before the line drops online and at all UNDERCOVER stores on Saturday, November 23. Take a look at the lineup in the gallery above.
