Frank Lampard to Coventry takes twist as club owner opens up on receiving 80 CVs
Coventry City are inundated with applications for the new head coach role, though club owner Doug King has confirmed that he has not spoken with Frank Lampard regarding the position.
The former Chelsea midfielder was thought to be in pole position to take over from Mark Robins, but King's new revelation at a fan forum has distanced themselves from hiring the ex-Everton and Chelsea head coach.
King explained: "I have not spoken to Frank Lampard and Frank Lampard has not spoken to me. Make of that what you will."

And Lampard's style leans more towards a managerial role rather than just coaching, which might not align with City's current structure.
It remains to be seen whether Frank Lampard will become the next Coventry boss. On the hunt for the right fit, King added: "We have a good idea, myself, Dean Austin and Dr Claire-Marie Roberts. I have been doing a lot of things at this football club over the last two years as executive chairman. I have great people around me and hopefully I will make the right call."
King also emphasised the club's appeal, saying: "Listen, there's a lot of interest in this job, believe you me. This is a top, high quality football club with a great squad and a really good set-up at Ryton. We're an attractive proposition for a head coach."
