8BitDo Unveils New Retro 108 Mechanical Keyboard

After recently unveiling a latch-on gaming controller for Android phones, accessory maker 8BitDo is back with another exciting release: the new Retro 108 Mechanical Keyboard.

Featuring a built-in numpad and enhanced functionality,  the keyboard draws inspiration from Nintendo's NES and Famicom consoles. This launch showcases two models; the NES-inspired version comes in white, dark gray and black, while the Famicom model features a white and crimson colorway with Japanese characters subtly placed beneath English lettering.

The Retro 108 is 22% wider than its predecessor, incorporating additional Windows shortcuts for the calculator, Function Lock and Screen Lock. Built with durable, hot-swappable Kailh Box White V2 switches and dye-sublimation PBT keycaps, the keyboard ensures premium typing quality as well well longevity. Users can seamlessly switch between Bluetooth, wireless 2.4GHz, or USB connectivity using a dedicated toggle. A precision volume dial and N-key rollover complete the feature set.

A standout innovation is the Super Buttons, inspired by the classic A and B buttons from NES and Famicom controllers. These oversized, programmable buttons connect via a 3.5mm jack, allowing users to assign custom macros for quick access to complex commands. Available in red, blue, or yellow, users can chain up to four sets of Super Buttons, adding both retro aesthetics and practical functionality for gaming and productivity tasks.

Starting December 12, the 8BitDo Retro 108 Mechanical Keyboard will be available for $120 USD via 8BitDo’s webstore. The Super Buttons are also available to add on for around $30 USD each.
