Donald Trump Has Been Elected President of the United States

Donald J. Trump has been elected as the 47th president of the United States. The 78-year-old is returning to office for his second and final term as president, leading the country with Ohio junior senator and Marine veteran James David "JD" Vance as his vice president.

Trump triumphed over Kamala Harris' Electoral College votes 277 to 224, taking the lead over Harris and her running mate Walz in crucial battleground states such as Georgia, Pennsylvania and North Carolina, and breaking the "Blue Wall" to secure the election win for the Republican Party. He took the stage in Florida and addressed his supporters, “I want to thank the American people for the extraordinary honor of being elected your 47th president, and your 45th president.”

Trump continued, “I will fight for you, for your family and your future every single day. I will be fighting for you with every breath in my body. I will not rest until we have delivered the strong, safe and prosperous America that our children deserve and that you deserve. This will truly be the golden age of America.”

Vance also thanked his running mate for the “trust that you placed in me" while speaking at West Palm Beach, “I think that we just witnessed the greatest political comeback in the history of the United States of America.”

Trump and Vance's inauguration is set to take place on January 20, 2025 on the West Front of the United States Capitol.
