Britain's Got Talent auditions resume with new judge after Simon Cowell pulls out

Liam Payne: Former One Direction star dies aged 31

Filming for Britain’s Got Talent resumed this weekend, with Strictly Come Dancing judge Bruno Tonioli joining the panel in place of Simon Cowell.

Long-time judge Simon has temporarily stepped down from the show after the devastating news of Liam Payne’s tragic death.

Former One Direction singer Liam died earlier this week after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires, shocking fans and members of the music industry.

Liam's passing has deeply affected Simon, who signed One Direction to his Syco music label after the group’s rise to fame on The X Factor.

A source close to Simon told the Sun, "This news has hit Simon incredibly hard - he is utterly shocked and devastated. He adored Liam, and was close to his family with whom he is sure to reach out privately.

"He didn't feel it was right to continue with filming BGT, and when it resumes on Saturday, does not feel he'll be in the right head space to continue."

As a result, Bruno has taken Simon's place, joining fellow judges Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and KSI as auditions resumed.

Bruno, who was seen arriving at the filming location today, briefly waved to onlookers before heading inside.

Simon Cowell has received unwavering support from the BGT production crew and his fellow judges, who have all been completely understanding of his need to take a step back during this difficult time.

Liam's death has cast a shadow over the entertainment industry.

The 31-year-old singer, who was part of successful British boyband One Direction, passed away instantly from injuries sustained in his fall.

His sudden death led to the cancellation of Britain’s Got Talent auditions earlier this week.

In a statement, a spokesperson for BGT producer Fremantle UK said, "Due to the tragic passing of Liam Payne, we have decided to postpone the Britain's Got Talent auditions. Our thoughts are with Liam's friends, family and all who loved him."
