Seiko x Porter Classic Unveil a Limited-Edition Presage Timepiece

Watch collaborations are far from the ordinary, but for Seiko, it’s a rarity. As part of the Seiko’s Presage Craftsmanship Series, the watchmaker has partnered up with Porter Classic for a limited edition that pays homage to co-founder Katsuyuki Yoshida’s love for pocket watches, but also to Laurel — Japan’s first wristwatch.

Inspired by the Laurel model that Seiko created in 1913, the new reference comes in a slim, 35mm-sized classic round case. As early 20th-century timepieces were often converted from pocket watches, the SPB449J1 is paired with wire lugs as a nod to the vintage models.

In keeping with its retro flair, the dial features a sleek black enamel, paired with silvery Breguet-style numerals, spade-shaped hands and a 24-hour subdial at 6 o’clock. Powering this elegant timepiece is the in-house 6R5H caliber, offering three days of power reserve. Marking the reference's status as a collaborative piece, the caseback is inscribed with the silhouette Katsuyuki Yoshida.

The wristwatch is complete with a cordovan leather pull-through strap in black as well as an additional brown option. Limited to 500 examples, the Seiko Presage x Porter Classic SPB449J1 Limited Edition is now available for pre-order via the brand’s webstore. Retailing for £2,070 GBP (approx $2,750 USD), shipment will begin in November.
