Loose Women star Kaye Adams revealed how "empty nest syndrome" left her in floods of tears and she now feels like it's the "end of family life", writes Sue Crawford.

She shares Bonnie, 18, and older sister Charley, 22, with long-term partner, tennis coach Ian Campbell.

Kaye, 61, confessed she ended up sobbing when she found her daughter packing her suitcases to head off to university.

"She phoned me - I was coming home from the airport - and she was saying, 'Oh Mum, I can't do my packing'. I was thinking 'for

God's sake Bonnie, you've had six weeks to do this, you should be all organised'.

"I walked upstairs and there she was sitting surrounded by these clothes and suitcases. I looked at her she looked at me, and we both burst out crying."

Speaking on her How To Be 60 podcast, Kaye admitted: "It's bloody difficult. The worst thing is, she's having a really good time. She couldn't speak to me the other day because she'd been doing karaoke."

The star has previously admitted to being "a wreck" when her eldest daughter Charley also left for university.

Kaye, a presenter on Loose Women since the show began 25 years ago, said with both daughters having left their Glasgow home it felt like the end of an era.

"The house is so tidy, I'm actually walking around trying to trash it," she said. "There's nothing for anyone to do, so it's really going to take a bit of getting used to."
