Roy Keane produced his latest rant during ITV's Euro 2024 build-up on Monday to rubbish optimism that England will click into gear after four underwhelming performances en route to the quarter-finals. Gareth Southgate's side scrambled through the last-16 by the skin of their teeth in Sunday's 2-1 win against Slovakia after extra-time.

England looked condemned to a shock defeat by the nation No. 45 in the FIFA rankings after failing to respond to Ivan Schranz's first-half opener.

But Jude Bellingham's 95th-minute bicycle kick and Harry Kane's header in the opening moments of extra time booked a meeting with Switzerland on Saturday.

Gary Neville was highly critical in his analysis of England ahead of France and Belgium's last-16 clash, slamming the style on display.

"They're passing too slowly. It's too methodical. It's too rigid. There's no one really taking risks. It's too safe. And they're living right on the edge. And that's fine if you get through it," Neville said on ITV.

"We often say get over the line. But is it conceivable? Is it realistic that we're going to keep getting over the line in this way if we don't change something?

"And, to be fair, whether Roy [Keane] says put the ball in the box and play more direct, what we have to do is play quicker. And that's quicker without the ball and quicker with the ball.

The Three Lions are among the favourites to win this summer's Euro 2024 tournament and you can get your hands on the brand new Nike home and away kits before the first whistle.

"We look lethargic when we're pressing; we look lethargic in possession, and that is not England. That's not these players."

Keane then swept in to respond to Neville's comments by dismissing any hope that there would be any drastic change in England's style of play for the remainder of the tournament.

He added: "If you think Gareth and his staff are going to fix that in the next two weeks, you're living in cuckoo land. Absolutely. As if they're going to produce that. New training sessions...

"The bottom line is if you go into that England camp today, everyone will be feeling good about themselves, and that's very important in sport. Everybody, the staff...

"And sometimes there are games you don't analyse. You move on very quickly. It's all about the next match. You will enjoy victories. Move on to the next game.

"They've got some momentum, they're not playing well, but you've got to win. Football's about winning at the top level. I'm sick of saying it."

England haven't impressed in any of their games against Serbia, Denmark, Slovenia and Slovakia, topping Group C despite winning just once and scoring two goals.

The Three Lions crucially haven't tasted defeat yet, but Switzerland are a step up in opposition and pose a serious threat if there is no improvement.
