Netflix Officially Confirms Adam Sandler's 'Happy Gilmore 2'

Adam Sandler's beloved 1996 golf comedy Happy Gilmore is officially returning for a sequel. Announced by Netflix, Happy Gilmore 2 is finally happening and will see Sandler return as the original star. Sandler himself recently confirmed that it was in the works, but at the time he had only written a first draft of the screenplay. Now, it has found a home with the streaming giant, Netflix.

The sports comedy will see the return of Happy Gilmore, a hockey player who has anger management issues and takes up golf upon realizing his talent. In the first film, he joined a golf tour circuit to win money to save his grandmother's house, and found himself facing off against arrogant pro, Shooter McGavin who is played by Christopher McDonald. Julie Bowen and Carl Weathers were the supporting cast in the film. It is uncertain who will return to the film as of now as the sequel seems to be in the early stages of production.

Considered one of Sandler's most famous and popular films to date, the first movie opened to nearly $40 million USD at the global box office in 1996. Stay tuned for more information.
