BBC Death in Paradise star admits 'it's never easy' as she lands new role after quitting

BBC's Death in Paradise star, Josephine Jobert, who played the beloved DS Florence Cassell, has secured a new role following her surprising departure from the show. The actress will be seen in a fresh AI surveillance drama titled Concordia.

Fans were left heartbroken when both Neville (Ralf Little) and Florence exited the series, but they won't have to wait long to see her back on screen. She has been cast as Mathilde in the new series, which is set to run for six episodes.

The series also features House of the Dragons star Nanna Blondell, Ted Lasso's Ruth Bradley, Christiane Paul, and Steven Sowah, with Game of Thrones' Frank Doelger serving as executive producer. The plot revolves around a fictional town, Concordia, which is planning to expand to Germany on its 20th anniversary.

However, this plan is jeopardised when an analyst in Concordia, Oliver Miller, is murdered. Frank Doelger expressed his excitement about the new series, stating: "I'm very excited to be part of a project that has such thought-provoking and increasingly pertinent subject matter. The exploration of surveillance, privacy, and data is the backdrop for this chilling thriller."

Adored actress Josephine after wowing audiences in Death In Paradise left fans in suspense about her future plans.

Responding to a fan's sorrow about the show ending, she hinted: "That's one of the rules in business. Things can be pretty quiet for months, and then all of a sudden, everything happens at once. To be continued..."

Josephine has since shared an update with fans about her new project, admitting "It's never easy".

She wrote on her Instagram stories: "Little update. Day of filming #4. great team. Beautiful people (actors and crew). It's never easy when you start a new project especially when you're far from home and the people you love.

"But everybody here has been really nice and welcoming."

Following Ralf Little's departure as Neville Parker from the much-loved series, fans could hardly hide their disappointment.

Discussing his decision to leave, Ralf revealed: "This last series was always going to be my last series, I had talks with the BBC, and with Red Planet, the production company and we all agreed that it just felt.."

"If it was in my heart, like if it was just a heart decision, I'd have wanted to do it for 20 more years. But just for the show, and... for my character Neville, it just sort of felt like his story... it deserved to be sort of finished and his sort of journey... sort of deserved to be completed and he deserved a nice happy ending and so it just felt right."
