Police probe fatal accident at Kai Tak Sports Park

Police on Thursday were investigating a fatal accident at Kai Tak Sports Park involving a construction worker. The man, 52, was found unconscious on Wednesday morning on a platform. He was rushed to Kwong Wah Hospital, where he was later certified dead. Sports park officials said they have offered their condolences to the family of the man, who was an aerial work platform operator. They added that the contractor and sub-contractor involved will provide all the help they can to the family and will cooperate with police and Labour Department investigations. The Association for the Rights of Industrial Accident Victims said it was the second fatal accident in less than three months involving the same contractor. It said the firm should thoroughly review its safety management system in order to protect the lives of its workers.
