fans may have stumbled upon a clue that connects the returning villain Nathan Curtis (played by Chris Harper) to the missing teenager Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton). Amid speculations that he is involved in her suspected murder, following the announcement of his return to Weatherfield, a recent scene might hint at this connection.

Nathan hasn't appeared on the show since 2017, after being jailed for his involvement in a child sex grooming gang. He manipulated and sexually assaulted Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) when she was a teenager, before exploiting her and attempting to sell her into sex work overseas.

This dark history on the soap initially led fans to believe that Nathan might be out of prison and possibly connected to Lauren's disappearance and potential death. Lauren has been missing since February, with blood, human tissue traces, and a weapon discovered at her flat.

The police suspect she is dead, and Roy Cropper (David Neilson) has been charged with the murder, despite the lack of concrete evidence or a body. However, new theories have emerged due to some potential evidence and the mystery surrounding a necklace given to Lauren before she disappeared.

Roy has also remembered Lauren was wearing a distinctive necklace when she disappeared and his lawyer Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) confirmed during scenes on Monday night that police are using it as fresh evidence.

Viewers are questioning whether the necklace was a gift from her abductor or killer, while Lauren had hinted that her secret boyfriend was the one who bought it.

Fans of the soap are speculating that Joel Deering (Callum Lill) might not be the only suspect in Lauren's disappearance. A scene from years ago could point to Nathan as the culprit behind her harassment and possible abduction.

The necklace given to Lauren before she disappeared while being harassed, has sparked theories among viewers. They recall that Nathan used to gift necklaces to the teenagers he groomed.

Bethany, one of his victims, received a similar necklace which she initially thought was special, only to discover that all the girls groomed by Nathan were given the same token.

With Lauren now in possession of a necklace amid suspicions of her involvement in sex work, and the necklace becoming a crucial part of the storyline, fans are wondering if this is a significant clue. Could Nathan, known for giving his victims necklaces, be the mystery ex-boyfriend and the man who knows Lauren's whereabouts?

One fan speculated on social media: "The same necklace Lauren has, didn't Bethany have a one similar off Nathan?? " Another fan concurred: "I was thinking the same."

A third went on: "I think Nathan has something to do with her disappearance.. she’s gone missing and all of a sudden Nathan is returning.." (sic)

Referring to the necklace, another stated: "They need to tell Bethany and she’ll recognise it."

Someone else theorised: "Nathan coming back into it this week will show that he has something to do with Joel, the jewellery and flowers will be remembered by Dee Dee and she will realise what Joel has been doing."

"It’s Joel! Back at Christmas Dee De found a receipt for jewellery and thought it would be for her," one fan suggested.

Coronation Street airs at 8pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
