Martin Kemp vows to never go on show again with son Roman again after on-screen clash

Saturday Kitchen Live: Martin Kemp vows to never go on show again with Roman

Ex-Spandau Ballet star Martin Kemp had son Roman - and the viewers at home - in stitches after he made a faux-pas with a fork. The others had been spiritedly discussing the latest wine option when Martin suddenly became the centre of attention for an unusual choice he'd made.

"What are you doing with your fork? Did you eat a taco with your fork?" Roman quizzed him. "I wanted to taste the lamb!" he retorted, before declaring: "I'm not coming on here again with him!"

As Martin devoured the tasty tacos, a few supportive messages emerged on Twitter over the playful spat, with one declaring Roman "the epitome of a spoilt child". "PSA - If you ever get famous please keep your kids locked up at home, thanks… #saturdaykitchen," joked one fan.

Meanwhile, another complained: "Martin and Roman just took all 4 of those tacos for themselves leaving the other two with nothing just now on #saturdaykitchen so rude!" Aside from the fun banter, which had everyone in stitches, Saturday Kitchen fans learnt more about the father-son duo behind the scenes.

Martin shocked Roman when he revealed to him for the first time, live on TV, that he'd once been on a "bender" with the late Michael Jackson in London's Soho. His face was a picture when he made the discovery, but Martin expanded further by admitting he tells him things that "a father should never say".

Fans will be able to delve into what some of the revelations are by tuning into the pair's upcoming weekly podcast, which could be a step further after their Gogglebox performances together.

Roman admitted to Matt Tebbutt: "If you have seen us on Gogglebox, you will see my dad tells me more than I probably should hear!"

Martin agreed, without skipping a beat: "I say things to Ro that fathers should never say to their son!"

He added: 'We have lost the parenting bit now, we just go for the blurred lines!"

Martin hadn't been keen on joining his son on the Channel 4 show when the opportunity first arose - but it seems the father-son roles have now reversed.

"What has happened now, is that I am now the parent!" chuckled Roman.

The 31-year-old followed in his father's showbiz footsteps, spending a decade as a radio presenter on Capital FM, before bidding his role a fond farewell.

He's since revealed his departure was prompted by the death of a fellow radio host and close friend, Joe Lyons, who took his own life back in 2020 and forced Roman to reflect and reassess.
