Alex Murphy set for contract talks with Newcastle

Newcastle United are eager to tie down one of their top young assets this season.

The Magpies are said to be in talks with Irish youngster Alex Murphy, per Chronicle Live.

The 19-year-old, who arrived from Galway two years ago, has featured twice for the first team this term.

Murphy's current deal expires in 2025, but Newcastle want to reward him for good progress.

The Republic of Ireland Under-19 international can play at centre half or left-back.

He is said to have recently switched agency and is now represented by Wasserman.
