Tempers flared between Salah and Klopp on the touchline at the London Stadium, with emotions running high in the Reds camp after their title hopes were handed a second crushing blow in a matter of days.

Despite being one of Liverpool’s most influential players during his reign, Klopp opted to overlook the ex- star for the clash with the Hammers on Saturday afternoon, and one of his final matches as Reds boss, favouring Harvey Elliott on the right wing.

With the score level at 2-2, Klopp looked to roll the dice and bring Salah, Nunez and Joe Gomez on in a desperate attempt to secure all three points. However, words exchanged on the sidelines only amplified frustrations as Klopp and Salah were caught squabbling on the touchlines in an unsavoury sight for Liverpool supporters.

After Klopp gave Salah some last-minute instructions as his substitution on loomed, the winger appeared to respond furiously to his manager and angrily hit back, though the root of his outburst remains unclear. Klopp engaged in the argument briefly before stepping away from his irate No.11, but that did not prevent Salah continuing to take aim at his manager.

The 31-year-old relentlessly shouted at his soon-to-be ex-manager, wagging his finger and stepping in the direction of the former Borussia Dortmund boss. Klopp continued to respond but broke eye contact with the winger as he watched play resume on the pitch, though the bust-up showed no signs of stopping until Nunez took the initiative and intervened.

The Uruguay international stepped in between the pair and pushed Salah away from Klopp, pulling his arm down and presumably telling his teammate to focus on the task at hand and making an impact on the pitch. The out-of-form duo were unable to stamp their authority on the match though, with Liverpool forced to settle for a point which leaves them one point behind , who have two games in hand.

Salah’s future at Anfield remains uncertain under new manager, with the former forward approaching the final 12 months of his contract at the club and not producing the performances on the pitch to justify another bumper new deal. Saudi Pro League sides are reportedly already preparing offers for Salah, having failed to lure him to the Middle East last summer.
