Qatar Airways launches Avios-e

Qatar Airways has launched two new credit cards for the US market, in partnership with fintech firm Cardless.

The Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Signature Credit Card has an annual fee of US$99, and offers benefits including up to 40,000 bonus Avios (20,000 after the cardholder’s first transaction, and a further 20,000 when spending $3,000 in the first 90 days), and a year’s Silver status in the Privilege Club loyalty programme (equivalent to oneworld Ruby tier).

Cardholders earn four Avios per $1 spent with Qatar Airways, two Avios per $1 spent on restaurants, and one Avios per $1 spent elsewhere. They will also earn two Qpoints (tier points) for every 2,000 Avios earned via the credit card.

Meanwhile the Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Infinite Credit Card – which comes in a matte metal design – has an annual fee of US$499, and offers benefits including up to 50,000 bonus Avios (25,000 after the cardholder’s first transaction, and a further 25,000 when spending $5,000 in the first 90 days), and a year’s Gold status in the Privilege Club loyalty programme (equivalent to oneworld Sapphire tier).

Cardholders earn five Avios per $1 spent with Qatar Airways, three Avios per $1 spent on restaurants, and one Avios per $1 spent elsewhere. They will also earn two Qpoints for every 1,500 Avios earned via the credit card, and will receive 150 Qpoints when spending $5,000 in the first 90 days.

More information on both cards can be found at qatarairways.com/creditcards.

Qatar Airways adopted Avios as its loyalty programme currency in 2022, and recently introduced a new platform allowing Privilege Club members to bid and spend Avios on “unique events and experiences”.

Commenting on the news Qatar Airways chief commercial officer, Mr. Thierry Antinori, said:

“As the loyalty programme to a leader in the aviation industry, we strive to uphold the same level of dedication in providing our members with the best benefits across the globe.

“We are proud to be partnering with Cardless to introduce the first Qatar Airways Privilege Club Credit Cards in the US market, which also includes being the first international airline loyalty programme to offer a Visa Infinite credit card.

“This partnership with Cardless demonstrates our commitment to collaborating with pioneers in the financial technology industry to enhance the benefits for our Privilege Club members.”

The news follows last year’s announcement of Qatar Airways, British Airways and Induslnd Bank partnering to launch a new multi-branded, Avios-earning credit card in India.
