Before you enter a daily fantasy basketball tournament for NBA action Thursday night, you need to hear what professional DFS player Mike McClure has to say. McClure has more than $1 million in career DFS winnings and is off to a red-hot start this season, already cashing multiple tournament and cash game rosters.
He has been able to do all that thanks to some spot-on picks.
On Monday, McClure locked value pick Zach Randolph in his lineup for just $5,900 on FanDuel. The result: Randolph returned 18 points, 10 rebounds and six rebounds for a season-high 48 DFS points. Anybody who had him in their lineup was well on their way to a profitable evening.
For Tuesday, McClure has identified Wizards forward Markieff Morris as a value pick at just $4,800 on FanDuel
With John Wall still out of the lineup for Washington, Morris is set for even more usage than normal. He's averaging 9.9 points per contest this season, but he's heated up recently, bumping his average to 14 points per game over the last three outings.
And this serves as a revenge game for Morris against the Suns, a team he played five seasons for. But whether or not he's fired up to play his former team, expect a high-scoring game and plenty of chances for Morris to pay off his affordable price tag.
At just $4,800 on FanDuel, you can roster Morris and still have plenty of salary cap room to add Russell Westbrook, who is the most expensive play this evening at $11,500 on FanDuel.
McClure says Westbrook will more than be worth the price tag on a limited schedule this evening that features just four games. In fact, he classifies him as an "absolute must-play" against the Nets, one of the worst teams in the NBA.
Paul George is out for this matchup, meaning Westbrook's usage rates should be similar to 2016, when he put up absurd numbers. Look for DFS production in line with last year's averages, when he put up 31.6 points, 10.7 rebounds and 10.4 assists in his MVP campaign.
McClure is also targeting a player who is playing out of his mind right now and has a dream matchup on Thursday evening. Picks like these could be the difference between winning your tournaments and cash games or going home empty-handed.
