John Catlin has opened up about his ongoing talks with several LIV Golf teams and general managers, as he eyes a spot on the LIV Golf set-up for 2025.
The 34-year-old golfer's profile has risen sharply this year, thanks to two wins on the Asian Tour and six appearances as a substitute on the LIV circuit.
Despite ruling the roost on the Asian Tour's International Series for much of the year, Catlin just missed out on a direct promotion to the LIV league. But he's not down and out yet, as he's gearing up for another shot at qualification in Riyadh this week at the LIV Promotions event.
"I have talked with a few teams so we will have to see where that falls," Catlin said to Mirror Sport. With his promotion near-miss via the Asian Tour, the American is determined to clinch his place this weekend.
"Yeah, big time," Catlin said when quizzed if his close shave serves as motivation to grab his second chance. "I got a taste for what LIV Golf is all about so there is definitely a lot of motivation coming in [to this week's event].
"I'm extremely hungry. It is such a cool format, a cool innovative thing for golf. We have never seen anything quite like it, and after seeing it and getting a taste for it, that is where I want to be."
The six-time Asian Tour victor has proven he can rival the sport's elite on the LIV circuit, narrowly missing out on triumph in Nashville this year as he went onto secure a tied-seventh place finish. Now, riding high on confidence from his performances in the Saudi-backed league, Catlin is setting his sights on qualification this week with optimism.
Teeing off in the second round on Friday, he added: "[My confidence levels] are definitely up there. I know when I am on, and I know when I have my best I can compete against anybody.
"So I would say I am very confident. So if I can go out there and do what I know I am capable of doing then I think I will have a very good chance."
