Jim McElwain: ‘We’ll move on’ after death threat comments

Florida coach Jim McElwain created a major stir on Monday when he said, unprompted, that people affiliated with the Gators football program had received death threats. The coach back-tracked a bit on Wednesday, first saying on the SEC coaches teleconference that he “allow[ed] one or two misguided remarks get to [him]” before providing slightly more information to local media later Wednesday night. In summary:

“I’ve been doing this a long time, and obviously allowing the clutter to get to you is just not what it’s all about, so we’ll move on,” McElwain said. “Obviously our guys are aware of it and we’ve talked about it, and we’re ready to go play Georgia and move forward.”
