An alleged leaked text message from a disgruntled England player has emerged ahead of the Euro 2024 quarter-final against Switzerland. After limping through to the last eight, the Three Lions have been heavily criticised for their lacklustre performances.

It has now been suggested all is not well off the pitch, with talkSPORT's Alan Brazil claiming Gareth Southgate's squad is riddled with internal divisions. The ex-Ipswich Town and Scotland forward revealed he has seen an alleged text from a current England player who is far from happy with the current atmosphere in the camp.

"I hate to say this and I'm not going to grass them up but I've seen a text from one of the players who is absolutely not enjoying it at all. There are splits all over the place," disclosed Brazil on his Breakfast Show during a discussion with Piers Morgan.

Morgan responded by urging the players to focus their energies on upping their game rather than on those criticising their subpar performances. The TV personality blasted: "If they expended as much energy on the pitch as they do criticising people who criticise them, we would win this at a canter.

"Whatever line-up we have, start being accountable. Stop whining about the media, who have been very mild in their criticism, in my opinion, given how bad we've been playing.

"Start playing at the level you were playing at in the last few months of last season and stop moaning all the time about people saying you've been c***, when you've been c***!"

On Southgate, who could be overseeing his last tournament as manager, Morgan added: "The bottom line is, Gareth Southgate has a very good record as England manager but he's also been in charge of a very talented group of players.

"If Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger the first eight years [at Arsenal] Wenger Jose Mourinho, Jurgen Klopp were managing this team, how would they be playing? They would be playing at a much faster tempo. Watching them the other day, they were walking round like snails. Why? I just don't get it.

"When you watch Spain or Switzerland, they are playing at twice the speed we are playing. There's something inherently wrong with the way these players are playing."
