boss is reportedly preparing for a brutal summer cull that could include eight players leaving. A positive start to the season under the Australian has nosedived in recent weeks, with Spurs likely to fail in their quest for football.

Postecoglou has made no secret of the fact that several stars could depart in the summer. The former Celtic tactician says players will be sold as he seeks to stamp his authority and philosophy on the club.

A string of fringe players are reportedly set to be put up for sale in the hope of raising the funds for three key transfer priorities. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Emerson Royal, Giovani Lo Celso, Ryan Sessegnon and Bryan Gil could reportedly be let go.

According to The Times, offers for Richarlison and Yves Bissouma could also be listened to over the coming months. Both players have struggled for consistency this season. Richarlison reportedly has interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia.

There is reportedly uncertainty over the future of on-loan forward Timo Werner. The former Chelsea man was signed on loan in January and Spurs have a £14million option to make his temporary stay permanent in the summer.

However, it is claimed that Spurs may look at alternative wide options that could provide better value for money. Werner, who will turn 29 next season, has scored only two Premier League goals in 13 appearances since returning to England from RB Leipzig.

Postecoglou is expected to be backed with a significant warchest during the off-season, with Spurs backing the manager despite teething problems during his first campaign in North London. But the potential departures of those seven players, in addition to saving on a permanent fee for Werner, could raise vital funds.

The Spurs manager is reported to want a centre-back, midfielder and striker all signed during the transfer window. There is also a necessity to add depth to a small squad with the likely prospect of European football at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next season, although Aston Villa are currently in the driving seat to finish fourth.

Spurs are in a healthy financial position and could reportedly move early for those three main targets. Several Premier League clubs may need to sell stars before June 30 to avoid profit and sustainability issues, with rivals looking to capitalise on the situation.

Meanwhile, the 20-year-old striker Alejo Veliz could reportedly spend another season on loan having failed to find regular game time at Sevilla in the second half of the campaign. The Argentine has made just four La Liga appearances and has not featured since March 2.
