Bukayo Saka's starting berth at Euro 2024 has to be under threat given Cole Palmer's performances. Gareth Southgate is always conservative and sticks to the players he can trust. But going off current form - and if it continues in the remaining games - Palmer must be picked to play on the right wing.

The Chelsea star is level with Erling Haaland in the Premier League Golden Boot race, netting six more than Saka in two fewer appearances.

It would be criminal to leave a Golden Boot winner on the bench. Palmer has one more assist, too.

To rack up such an impressive haul while his team-mates are underperforming makes the record even more dazzling.

Saka has not been a permanent fixture for England recently. He started just one of their last seven matches and that was a 1-1 draw with North Macedonia.

Should it really be his position to lose? The Arsenal man has greater experience at the highest level but Palmer is of a similar maturity.

Saka is eight months older but they would have been in the same school year and youth teams. Age can't be used against him.

Palmer scored 11 goals in his last six games. Saka has two. Keep this up in the final six matches and it's a no-brainer for Southgate to select the Stamford Bridge icon.

Just keep him away from Jarrad Branthwaite and Jordan Pickford in England training. They were embarrassed enough on Monday night.

Run Ratcliffe run

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is going to cover more mileage on Sunday than Casemiro has all season when he competes in the London Marathon aged 72.

If the Manchester United co-owner takes his boots to Wembley straight afterwards he would still put the Brazilian to shame.
