M new health center in the Guangdong-Macau In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin opened officially Monday, making healthcare more accessible for Macau residents living in the area.
By 5:45 p.m. on its opening day, the facility had already served approximately 125 individuals, providing a range of services including medical treatment, nursing, and health consultations, according to a statement from the Health Bureau (SSM).
Spanning 1,000 square meters, the health center is equipped with clinics, pharmacies and multi-purpose rooms.
It offers comprehensive healthcare services tailored to men, women and children, focusing on both chronic conditions like hypertension and acute illnesses such as colds. Patients requiring specialized care will be referred to local hospitals as necessary.
Trained professionals from Macau’s health centers are staffing the center, demonstrating cross-border service and compliance with mainland medical regulations. The Guangdong Food and Drug Administration has approved over 290 medications for use at the center.
Operating hours for the health center are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 5:45 pm., with slightly adjusted hours Friday.
The government said the health center aims to enhance public healthcare services in Hengqin, aligning with Macau’s commitment to integrated regional development. NS
