Acting Chief Executive Eric Chan, along with other senior government officials, members from the legislative and executive councils on Friday paid tribute to the more than 300,000 victims of the Nanjing Massacre between 1937 and 1938. During the ceremony at the Central Government Offices in Admiralty, the national anthem was played before a two-minute moment of silence was observed. Chan then laid a wreath for the victims and led participants to sign the memorial book. This year marked the 11th National Memorial Day for the Nanjing Massacre. Representatives of the Central People's Government offices in the SAR, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference CY Leung, and former chief executive Donald Tsang were among those who attended the commemoration.
