Japan blocks overcrowded selfie spot, bans tourists from traditional areas to cope with explosion of travellers

Visitor numbers are up more than 10 per cent compared to pre-pandemic levels with a combination of a weak yen, the relaxation of coronavirus restrictions and "revenge travel" making Japan one of the world's hottest destinations.
