Editor's Note: Show Season in Full Swing
And just like that, season in the Med was over. Or almost over. With this week’s Cannes Yacht Show in full swing, and Monaco Yacht Show (MYS) just around the corner, we’ll soon be saying goodbye to summer, but for now, we’re holding on to the last of the warm weather and reporting on events from Europe and beyond.
First, it’s straight to Cannes where the yacht show is still ongoing. One of the most exciting reveals of the week so far came from Wally, who announced their latest creation: a 101-foot high sailing yacht. Since Wally became part of the Ferretti Group earlier this year, the yachting industry has eagerly awaited news and this is certainly just that.
On the subject of yacht shows, this week’s newsletter wouldn’t be complete without news of the swiftly approaching Monaco Yacht Show. First, we look to the show’s star-studded fleet, with writer, Anna Solomon unveiling the largest five yachts set to line Port Hercule at the end of the month. From TIS to DreAMboat, this year’s impressive line up is certainly getting us excited.
Our second MYS story this week comes from brokerage, Imperial, who are presenting a particularly impressive portfolio of yachts this show season. From 106m Amadea to 49m Hokulani, we’re looking forward to seeing this exceptional fleet up close.
But it’s not all about yacht shows. In an unusual update this week, we watched on as the world leaders in ‘Superyacht Vinyl Wrapping & Finishing’, LuxWrap, complete their latest transformation on iconic 58m superyacht, Skyfall. Photos of the eye-catching colour change can be found in writer, George Bains, latest story.
In fact, recent news has been full of unique stories, with Lionel Richie making the headlines after performing a private show as part of a Ferretti Group event at the Yacht Club de Monaco. The event marked the fifth time the company has held its annual ‘Private Preview’, inviting shipowners to a unique presentation of the expansive fleet under its umbrella, including those of Ferretti Yachts, Pershing, Riva, Itama, Custom Line and Wally.
Elsewhere and in brokerage news, TWW made a huge announcement with the Hein Velema appointed as a new partner and CEO after joining earlier this year. SuperyachtsMonaco also updated the industry with news of their latest CA, 50m Hayken. Last but by no means least, we spoke to Port Denia, where Richard Nettleson told Superyachts.com about the marina’s very special niche. You can read the interview in full here.
So while we prepare to return to the yachting capital of Monaco in just a few short weeks, stick with Superyachts.com for updates from across the globe.
