Sue Cleaver has made public her intention to bid farewell to Weatherfield after dedicating a remarkable 25 years to her celebrated character. Expressing her sentiments, she shared: "I've had 25 privileged years of working on Coronation Street. The door is still firmly open, but as I reached my 60th year I decided it was time to embrace change, look for new adventures and live fearlessly."
Her characters exit is set to follow shortly after another street icon, Gail Platt, played by Helen Worth, takes her leave from the programme. Helen's last appearance was on Christmas Day, marking an end to her 50-year stint as the revered Platt family matriarch.
In a surprising twist, it has been divulged that Eileen's sister Julie Carp will be making a comeback to the cobbles in alignment with Eileen's sendoff. Having been away for almost a decade, Julie's sudden reappearance, played by actress Katy Cavanagh, is poised to astonish Eileen.
Production has informed audiences that filming with Katy has commenced, and they can anticipate Julie's unexpected return on February 21, reports the Manchester Evening News.
