The Masked Singer UK fans have finally discovered the celebrity behind the Spaghetti Bolognese costume. Six new characters graced the stage on Saturday (January 4) night, marking the start of the sixth series of ITV's eccentric guessing game show.
Teeth, Snail, Tattoo, Kingfisher, Spaghetti Bolognese and Dressed Crab were all selected to perform by celebrity detectives Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall, Maya Jama, Jonathan Ross and special guest Sir Mo Farah. However, Spag Bol and Teeth found themselves in the danger zone after receiving the fewest votes from the studio audience.
The panel chose to save Teeth, resulting in Spag Bol being the first contestant to be eliminated from the new series.
As the mystery celebrity began to remove their mask, host Joel Dommett intervened, instructing them to wait until the next episode, much to the annoyance of viewers at home.
During Sunday's (January 5) episode, Spag Bol was finally unmasked, revealing Good Morning Britain's Kate Garraway as the person beneath the extravagant costume.
After her reveal, Kate admitted to Joel: "I can't sing and I kept telling them that and they kept saying 'it doesn't matter'."
The mother-of-two also confessed that her children Darcey and Billy Draper were unaware she was participating in the show, and she even deceived them by claiming she was "doing something for charity", reports the Mirror.
The reveal on The Masked Singer UK didn't catch viewers at home off guard. Flocking to X, previously known as Twitter, one fan exclaimed: "I knew it was Kate Garraway! #MaskedSingerUK."
Another chimed in with: "It was obvious #MaskedSingerUK."
A third viewer confidently stated: "Of course it's Kate Garraway #MaskedSingerUK."
Echoing the sentiment, a fourth social media user confirmed: "I said Kate Garraway in family group chat last night #MaskedSingerUK."
Bush, Bear, Pegasus, Pufferfish, Toad in The Hole and Wolf are all set to make their debut performances in the upcoming second episode of the series.
