Although it's unclear if the original actors who played Francis, Reece, and Dewey will also make a comeback, fans are eagerly hoping they will.
According to reports from Variety, the new series will follow the premise: "Malcolm (Muniz) and his daughter are drawn into the family's chaos when Hal (Cranston) and Lois (Kaczmarek) demand his presence for their 40th wedding anniversary party."
The wave of excitement was palpable among fans as one exclaimed: "Finally! Couldn't be happier with this return!" While another chimed in: "Wow great to hear! Loved the show growing up! Hope all the great characters like Stevie and Craig show up! Also curious who they'll cast as grow up Jamie. Lois is prob the best TV mom of all time", reports the Daily Record.
One eager viewer put forth their conditions for the abridged revival: "If it's going to be 4 episodes, each episode needs to be at least an hour long."
As anticipation builds, the original seven series are ready for bingeing on Disney+, offering fans a trip down memory lane before the comeback kicks off. The show retains a cherished spot in many hearts, often associated with the nostalgic pangs of childhood.
Online discussions brimmed with praise where a fan remarked: "It's probably one of the best sitcoms ever created, no laugh tracks, no cheesy jokes or anything. Just raw comedy at it's best. I HIGHLY recommend it".
Another fan ranked it a close second to another comedic giant, declaring: "One of the best TV series I've ever watched and stands after Friends. The skilled portrayal of the character Francis was absolutely amazing."
Meanwhile, a different devotee raved that the original production is "one of the most criminally underrated shows in television history."
