A presenter on Good Morning Britain angered fans by just turning up this morning - with some viewers threatening to "switch off" just minutes into the show.

Adil Ray had returned to the helm of the ITV breakfast show, alongside Kate Garraway, for their normal Friday hosting duties. Since Ben Shephard's departure from Good Morning Britain earlier this year, Adil has been on rotation as a Friday host and fronts the show with either Kate, Laura Tobin or Charlotte Hawkins.

However, the 50-year-old Lingo star had been missing from the show for some weeks before finally making his return today. But not everyone was happy to see him back on their screens.

Taking to social media, viewers threatened to boycott the ITV show. Posting on X/Twitter, one wrote: "Thanks for the heads up that Adil is on, I now won’t bother switching on."

Another penned: "#GMB Dragged in that wretched Adil Ray when you got the Hawk on headline duty she should be presenting and bin off Adil."

"It’s Friday the 13th and we get Kate and Adil unlucky already #GMB," said a third. Someone else wrote: "Friday must have the lowest viewing figures and I wonder why."

However, others were delighted to see Adil back at work. One shared: "Oh Yes Adil is back on," with another echoing: "Great to see Adil is back on Friday!"

Adil was forced to reassure his fans that he will be returning to the ITV programme this Friday alongside Kate Garraway, after he received questions where he had disappeared to, last week.

Taking to Instagram, he penned: "A few people (ok maybe two) asking where I’ve been for past few weeks. One even asked if I’d been fired! Not that I know of! I am back on this Friday with Kate and the team and next Friday too.

"Get it in your diaries! Dec 13 & 20. 6am. I expect you all there by 7am latest with a nice cuppa. Thank you!"

Fans rushed to thank him as they shared that they had been "getting worried" about the GMB presenter.

Good Morning Britain airs daily at 6am on ITV and ITVX.
