Yellowstone official trailer
*Warning - This article contains spoilers for Yellowstone season 5b.*
Speculation is rife among Yellowstone enthusiasts that a sixth season of the Paramount series could be on the cards, with one fan even suggesting an audacious theory about its potential plot.
In a tongue-in-cheek post discussing the show's future, a viewer took to Reddit to share a humorous prediction about the direction the series might take following creator Taylor Sheridan's controversial cameo in the recent episode.
Sheridan faced significant criticism from Yellowstone followers after his minor character, Travis Wheatley, occupied precious airtime just before the season finale.
In the latest episode, Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) journeys to Texas in search of the horse trainer, only to discover him amidst a group of beautiful women engaged in strip poker and his significantly younger girlfriend, portrayed by 28 year old supermodel Bella Hadid, reports the Mirror US.
These scenes did not sit well with fans, many of whom accused Sheridan of "wasting time" and acting "selfishly".
Nonetheless, some viewers chose to inject humour into their critique of the contentious episode. A user named @kinghyperion581 posted on Reddit: "My theory for Travis (spoilers! ! ! )
"If they do a Season 6, we will see Travis become the main character. He'll end up seducing Beth, beating Rip and Kayse in a fight because he's such a badass, kill Jaime, and singlehandedly take out every bad guy.
“He'll be so awesome that Chief Rainwater will make him a member of the Broken Rock Reservation,” they continued jokingly. “He'll also buy the Yellowstone and roundhouse kick the CEO of Market Equity in the face so they never come after his ranch again.
“Also He'll use his secret magical powers to raise Colby from the dead and all the Ranch hands will worship him as the Ultimate Cowboy messiah.” (sic)
The playful speculation didn't stop there, as another fan joined in: "Season 6 will end with a twist. We'll find out that Travis is the son of Cordell Walker aka Walker Texas Ranger aka Chuck Norris."
They elaborated on the fictional scenario: "See he changed his name to Wheatley cause he was tired of all of Walker's enemies coming after him."
And yet another added a touch of humour, commenting: "Don't forget he will bring John Dutton back from the dead so that he can kill him all over again in a drunken bar fight trying to save Rip's hat."
Despite the fun, it seems unlikely that Yellowstone will see a season 6 following Kevin Costner's exit as John Dutton, but fans can look forward to a new spin-off featuring Beth and her spouse Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser), as Deadline has reported.
The Yellowstone finale airs Sunday, December 15 on Paramount Network, with UK audiences able to stream it the following day on Paramount Plus.
