BBC presenter Mishal Husain has reportedly quit her radio show after 11 years.

The 51-year-old has fronted BBC Radio 4's Today show since 2013, but is now believed to be having talks with bosses about a new role within the corporation.

While Husain is believed to be filming abroad at the moment, she is due back on the Radio 4 news show in the near future.

The Sunday Times bestselling author will be on air until the new year. 18 months of discussion is believed to have taken place before the final decision was made.

According to The Times, Husain is likely to take a long-service benefit that permits individuals who have been employed at the BBC for over 25 years to take up to five weeks of additional paid leave.

An insider told the paper: "After 11 years Mishal has reached the point where the 3.30am alarm call is no longer a welcome noise."

They added: "She is very highly thought of and there will be an extremely big effort to make sure she’s accommodated well elsewhere."

Husain presents the Today show alongside Emma Barnett, Justin Webb, Amol Rajan and Nick Robinson, discussing the latest news and current affairs with listeners.

Back in June, the presenter hinted that her time on the show could be coming to an end after telling The Times she was "thinking about what is beyond Today".

The BBC News at Ten presenter said: "I'm wondering what the next act of my career might look like. I’ve been very lucky to work with great colleagues for many years."

Zoe Ball on BBC Radio 2

It comes after Zoe Ball announced she was stepping down from her BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show.

Having taken over from Chris Evans in 2019, the 53-year-old is ready to say goodbye to the early starts, emphasising her need to "step away from the very early mornings and focus on family".

Despite her affection for her role, Zoe couldn't help but comment on the early mornings, adding: "But I won't miss the 4am alarm call, if I'm completely honest."

Zoe's final show will be on December 20, "just in time for Christmas with plenty of fun and shenanigans," she told listeners on Tuesday (November 19).

Scott Mills will be taking over and Zoe heaped praise on her successor, saying: "Scott and I go way back to our Radio 1 days, when he was doing early mornings before me. He’s been a close friend for years, and I’m beyond thrilled it’s him taking over the Breakfast Show."
