GK Barry's mum says it's hard watching daughter on I'm A Celeb
Viewers of I'm A Celebrity have detected what seems to be a sneaky rule breach by one of the stars, yet it appears to have flown under the radar of production bosses at ITV.
Eagle-eyed fans identified a conspicuous "E" adorned on GK Barry's nail polish, which they surmised is a nod to her girlfriend's name. The show traditionally prohibits participants from any external communication and bans them from sending messages of affection or greetings to their loved ones.
However, eagle-eyed viewers are convinced that the "E" etched in white on Grace's digit is a tribute to her partner, footballer Ella Rutherford of Ipswich Town. One observant fan took to Twitter: "Has anyone else noticed Grace's tiny little 'E' that she holds up to camera for Ella? Subtle and smart work GK Barry!".
Previously private about their relationship, GK Barry only confirmed her romance with Ella during a birthday tribute on Instagram in August, declaring: "Happy Birthday babe I love you more and more everyday."
The Mirror reports GK also spoke openly about her romantic preferences on Young Filly's podcast, stating unreservedly: "I feel like I went very wrong with men.
"I don't like men anymore. I will never go back to a man. God forbid.
"Yeah, I just love it. I just love it. I feel like I've got spring in my step. I feel like I'm glowing.
"It's the lesbian glow. I've got it. And yeah, that's my life update."
During Tuesday evening's episode, I'm A Celebrity star GK opened up about her personal life around the campfire.
Dean asked GK how she came to terms with her sexuality, prompting her to share: "Obviously online I'd been like I'd slept with girls or whatever as well, but I'd only dated men."
She recounted how she met her partner Ella, saying: "It was by accident I found Ella, through a mutual friend and then I really liked her the first day I met her but I'd never told my parents."
Regarding her parents, she explained they were acquainted with Ella as a friend: "I'd mentioned, 'Oh I'm just going to see my friend Ella' or 'I'm staying round Ella's' so they'd heard her name."
When the moment arrived for GK to introduce Ella officially as her girlfriend, the podcaster recalled they were positive to her coming out.
She shared: "They just love her, they never had an issue with it.
"To be fair I feel like the closet may have been glass! They've always said whoever you end up with we do not care, boy or girl we don't care, as long as they're not a d*ck."
Loose Women star and campmate Jane remarked: "All you ever want is for your kids to be happy, it doesn't matter who it's with."
In a similar vein to GK's covert message to Ella, previous series have seen other campmates attempt to communicate with their loved ones while on camera.
Marvin Humes, JLS singer and This Morning presenter, was often spotted touching his heart with his right fist when on screen - a gesture fans believed was a declaration of love to his wife, Rochelle Humes, and their children.
EastEnders actress Danielle Harold was frequently seen touching the brim of her hat during live broadcasts, while I'm a Celeb enthusiasts speculated that social media influencer Nella Rose was sending a secret message by covering her mouth with her hand whenever Ant and Dec mentioned her name.
